March is the time when the starts can go in, and the early greens planted outside. The hard frosts probably won’t come, but it’s still cold and windy. Only for the hardy vegetables!
It’s time to work the ground, and do what’s necessary to create healthy, fertile soil. Growing food is about growing soil!
On March 13, from 9 am – 12 noon, at Bayview School (at Bayview Corner) we’ll be learning about
• the essential elements of soil
• how to improve your soil with compost and amendments
• making compost
• cool-weather plants for the early spring
Bring a jar of your soil to share!
There will also be TOP TIPS of the month, and plenty of time for Questions & Answers.
Presenters: Janet Hall, David Ridle and Cary Peterson
Class fee is $15, scholarships available.
